Why aren't I getting my email subscriptions?

There could be a number of reasons you aren't getting your email subscriptions, most of which are our fault.

We will be optimistic though, and start off with possible issues on your end. This also creates the illusion of control over your Xanga experience. While a complete illusion, this is something we encourage.

1. WRONG EMAIL ADDRESS

There's a very small chance that your Xanga site has the wrong email address in it:

If that's the case, just change the email address to an email that you know works. Then test the email address, using our I forgot my password! option.

2. ACCIDENTALLY SUSPENDED ALL SUBSCRIPTIONS

It's also possible that you accidentally suspended all of your subscription email in your Subscriptions General Settings, and then promptly forgot about it.

In this entirely improbable scenario, you can reactivate your Subscription Emails here:

3. XANGA MAILS ARE CAUGHT IN YOUR SPAM FILTER

Some spam filters will refuse to let Xanga through unless you add our email addresses to your "whitelist".  You can learn how to do this here:

In addition, ISP's such as Earthlink are increasingly using "visual verification" to verify that a human is on the other end of the email. You can read more about this technique in this News.com article:

Here is an example of the sort of email autoreply we often get from Earthlink, when we send our subscription emails:

This email address is protected by EarthLink spamBlocker. Your email message has been redirected to a "suspect email" folder for yournamehere@mindspring.com. In order for your message to be moved to this recipient's Inbox, he or she must add your email address to a list of allowed senders.

The problem is, there isn't a human sending out your subscription emails. So please make sure to add xanga-subs@xanga.com and xanga-feedback@xanga.com to your email whitelists!

Much more probably, your email subscriptions aren't going through due to reasons entirely beyond your control. Here are some of the leading candidates:

4. ALL XANGA EMAIL HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY YOUR ISP

Because of the volume of subscription emails we send, the odds of a subscription email being erroneously reported as spam have gone up dramatically. Sometimes an ISP will take unwarranted action and block ALL xanga.com emails. If you suspect this is the case, let us know and we will contact your ISP.

5. WE HAVE TEMPORARILY TURNED OFF SUBSCRIPTION EMAILS

Occasionally, our database may be upgrading or being fixed. In these troubled times, we may temporarily turn off subscription emails to lessen the load on the database.
