I guess you mean upload instead of download? For profile pics, make sure it fulfills the criteria required (smaller than 50kb), and try to resize it to smaller than 170x170 as mentioned. Any bigger (or jpeg >50kb), xanga will resample the picture and it will turn out ugly. Just try uploading a small pic first, and see it if works.
