If your picture won't upload or doesn't show up for some unknown reason, here are a few things we recommend trying:
Make sure your image isn't too big!
* Right now, if you try to upload an image larger than 1 megabyte (for jpgs, 50kb for any other kind of image file) to Xanga, the "add image" window will say "page not found." This is a bug, as Xanga should warn you that nobody can upload images that large. We will be fixing this soon, but in the interim, please shrink your picture and upload it again!
* Sometimes, your problems will go away if you shrink an image or use a lower resolution to make the picture file smaller. Be nice to your viewers using old browsers on rusty computers with slow modems -- they may have difficulties reading big files!
Make sure your file name isn't too funky
* Don't use spaces in the name of your file. "My picture.JPG" will become "My%20picture.JPG" when the picture goes on an Internet server, and a lot of web browsers get confused by this. You can use _underscores_ if you like, but spaces tend to mess things up.
* Don't use extra dots. "Me.At.The.Beach.JPG" is not ideal. "Me_At_The_Beach.JPG is much better.
Make sure your picture is saved in a JPG or GIF file format
* Don't try to post an Adobe Photoshop PSD file! That can only be seen inside of Photoshop...
* Don't use Windows bitmaps (file extension: BMP), as Macs and even some alternative Windows browsers can't see bitmaps.
Make sure you don't have reached the limit to the number of profile pictures you can have.
* Go here to see if you have too many pictures:
* Classic Users are only allowed 3, and Premium users are allowed 99.
Make sure you have a default picture (the picture that shows up on your mainpage and blogrings, user search etc.)
* Even if you uploaded a new picture, your default picture does not automatically change.
