It says the file I'm trying to upload is not a picture - but it is!

Xanga is built on a software platform (Microsoft's .NET software) that recognizes the following file types as pictures:

.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .emf, .exif, .icon, .memorybmp, .png, .wmf

How can you tell if your picture uses one of these recognized file types?

Look at the name of your picture when you are trying to upload it... if it ends in one of the file type "extensions" listed above (e.g. picture.jpg or picture.gif), then it's one of the recognized file types - and you should be all set!

If it does not end in one of these extensions, then you'll need to convert it into one of the recognized file types before you can upload it...

How can you convert your picture into one of the recognized file types?

  1. Launch any picture editing program you have on your computer
  2. Open the picture that you want to convert (using the program you just launched)
  3. Use the "Save As" feature to save your picture as one of the recognized file types listed above.

Now you should be able to upload the new (converted) picture to your Xanga Profile :-)
