Since I can't have a Skin, what else can I do to make my site look better?

There are a couple ways you can change the look of your site, without Xanga Premium.

You can change your Look and Feel by going here:

Here you can pick the colors and fonts of the different parts of your website (header, left module, main body...) in addition to adding a background image.

TO ADD A BACKGROUND IMAGE

First, find the site that has the background image that you'd like to use. If the site isn't yours, be sure to ask permission first!

Now get the address of the background image (also known as the URL). It should begin with: http://, and probably end in either jpg or gif. You can find out what the web address is by right clicking the background, and then clicking Properties in the menu that pops up.

Now, put the URL of the background image in your Look and Feel editor (in the section called "Background Image"):

Hit "Save Changes" on the bottom, and you should be all set!

However, if you want to use a picture on your computer, it’s a little bit more complicated. First you need to put it on the web. If you have Xanga premium, you can upload the picture onto you site:

But if you don't have Xanga classic, you have to find a website that will host your picture for you:

Once you have the WEB address of your image, just insert it here:

Hit "Save Changes" on the bottom, and you should be all set!

EXTRA CODE AND EFFECTS:

In addition, you can also add your custom HTML codes in your header, webstats, and javascript module (this is how people get the special effects on their site - falling leaves, etc..) So look around for websites that offer codes, or simply ask other users for their code! Then insert it into your Look and Feel page: http://www.xanga.com/CLAF (most of the time you insert it in your header or Website stats area.)
