How can I put a banner header on my site?

There are three different options you can use to make a Header on your site.

Go to your Look and Feel first: http://edit.xanga.com/claf.aspx

You'll see three options in the drop-down menu for Headers.

Hide Header

Select this if you do not want anything at the top of your page.

Create a Custom Header

Here you can include a text header.

Here is an explanation of what each option does

"Site Name" is what appears on the Left side of the Header. Then select what type of Font, Size, and Color that you want

Tagline is what appears on the Right side of the Header. Then select what type of Font, Size, and Color that you want

Also you can change the Border color and the color of the Interior, or what color the Header is filled with.

Input Your Own Header HTML

To place a picture on your site using html, use this basic format:

The web address to your picture would be enclosed in the quotation marks.

Here's how to find the URL of the image you want to use:

If you use Internet Explorer on a PC: Right click on the image and select "Properties". A pop up window should appear that contains the URL of your image (next to the "Address" or "URL" heading)

If you use Netscape on a PC: Right click on the image and select "View Image". You should be taken to a web page that shows only your image. The URL of that page (in the address bar of your browser) is the URL of your image.

If you use Mozilla: Right click on the image and select "Copy Link Location."

If you use a Mac: Click and hold on the image, then choose "Open Image in New Window". You should be taken to a web page that shows only your image. The URL of that page (in the address bar of your browser) is the URL of your image.

After you input the URL of the image you want to add, click OK

If you're using Internet Explorer, Xanga will automatically add the picture to your Weblog Editor window and you'll see it immediately.

Some browsers may not automatically add the picture to your Weblog Editor window. If so, you will be prompted to cut-and-paste some HTML into your Weblog Editor window. Go ahead and do that.

Don't forget to include the http:// in the address!

Once you have that format you can insert that into your Header section of your Look and Feel:

Also if you want to align it to the "center" or the "right" or the "left", include this code as well:

(change "center" to right, or left)
