How do I accept cookies so that I can sign into Xanga?

If you are having trouble signing in, it may be because your browser isn't set up to accept "cookies".

Like most sites, our signin system depends on your browser to keep track of your username and password.  Browsers do this with something called a "cookie" that they store on your computer.

If you would like to enable cookies so you can sign in, you can do so using your browser.  Each browser has a slightly different way of enabling cookies cookies, so we've pulled together a list of instructions for some of the most common browsers out there:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0

  • Go to the brower pulldown: Tools > Internet Options.
  • Click on the Privacy tab
  • See the slider on this page? Make sure the default setting is set at least to medium, and then click OK.

AOL 9.0 Members:

AOL hasn't made this easy, so we pulled together a tutorial here:

We've also pulled together instructions for some older and alternative browsers:

Netscape 4.0:

  • Go to the browser pulldown: Edit > Preferences > Advanced Settings
  • Then choose the second option: "Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server."

Netscape 6.0:

  • Click Edit in the browser tool bar.  Then, click Preferences.
  • Look in the Category window, and click on Privacy and Security.
  • Then click Enable all cookies.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0:

  • Go to the browser pulldown: View > Internet Options > Advanced
  • Select the "Security" tab
  • Select "Accept All Cookies"

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0:

  • Go the browser pulldown: Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on the Security tab, and then click on the "Custom Level" button
  • Scroll down until you see the section called Cookies. The first option there says, "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer".  Choose the Enable setting, and then click OK.
